This Mercury II 35mm half frame camera is a rare find, even for us. It was very well ahead of its time when it was designed in 1945 as one of the earliest models to offer a 1/1000 sec. It uses an unusual rotary metal focal plane shutter and offers a depth of field guide on the top of the camera. A half frame cameras means twice the amount of exposures on a roll. You want vintage? Here it is. Film tested and ready to go!

  • Cosmetic condition: In Good Condition with acceptable wear and other signs of use that are consistent with age. Viewfinder is clear enough and easy to compose with.
  • Film transport gears: Excellent - Advance lever moves forward precisely and advances film smoothly.
  • Shutter speeds: Excellent - This model features an exposure wheel that pairs the aperture and shutter speed. It was tested at every combination and is accurate to the setting.
  • Light Meter: This model does not have a built in light meter. We recommend using Sunny 16 rule or an external meter.
  • Hotshoe: This camera was designed to use with a specific Mercury flash bulb that will be difficult to find. This camera would be more practical for someone looking to shoot outdoors or in well lit settings.
  • Universal Tricor 35mm f/3.5 Built-in Lens: In great shape considering the age. The lens optics themselves are in excellent condition with no marks, scratches, haze or fungus.

No front lens cap included.

Our goal is to provide an accurate, detailed description for each used item that we sell. We focus on testing the most important aspects related to the functionality. Please note that with older vintage items, a slight degree of imperfection is to be expected
